Know the art..!!!
A man, who shifted from Dewas to Indore developed this art during early 1950s. Mr Abdul Gaffar Khan was one of the first persons to get National honor in 1943. He and his father use to make terracotta sculpture for festive seasons. He once thought of making animals with realistic feel by using human hair, fur etc. He experimented using leather as skin on these animals and polished them, making them more realistic than before. Under Govt bodies supervision, Mr.Gaffar Khan trained few young people who worked under him and nurture them to become artisians. This continued and took form of modern day Leather craft industry of Indore.
